In this position as a Fire Ecologist, you will:

Function as the primary BIA National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) technical specialist for the wildland fire and fuels.
Resolve complex specialized and technical data issues; coordinate and develop procedures to gather and analyze data that can be utilized for adapting management plans. Develop, interpret and maintain BIA fire effects monitoring policy and guidelines.
Provide expert knowledge of processes and functions of a national level array of ecosystems and their components.
Serve as the primary national authority in an interagency and interdisciplinary team setting for air quality and smoke management.
Build and maintain working relationships with interagency partners to facilitate efficient and effective ecosystem disturbance ecology information interchange to the field.
