The purpose of the workshop was for research scientists, air quality specialists, policy administrators, and others to present and discuss recent advances in research relating to estimation of emission factors for particulate matter (PM) and its constituents (organic carbon, black carbon, etc.) emitted from wildland fires, including wildfires and prescribed burning. The workshop consisted of presentations by attendees and discussions aimed at sharing technical information, evaluating measurement approaches, and suggesting applications to air quality monitoring and policy development.
