The Cobian-Iñiguez laboratory (https://www.cobianresearch.com/) at UC Merced is seeking applicants for a postdoctoral position focused on transdisciplinary research in wildland and wildland-urban-interface fire. The postdoctoral scholar will contribute to the development of collaborative public science communication strategies with a focus on addressing gaps in bilingual fire science communications. They will conduct integrated basic and applied fire science research in the Cobian-Iñiguez laboratory at UC Merced. Research tasks may include laboratory scale fire behavior experiments and/or applications of machine learning to fire data. The postdoctoral scholar will contribute to the development of a science distribution network with key Spanish-speaking stakeholder groups on both sides of the US Mexico border. They will contribute to the development of bilingual content for the California Fire Science Consortium website. The postdoctoral scholar will be expected to assist with and oversee undergraduate and graduate students, contribute to the preparation of grant proposals and, publish in peer reviewed journals.
