The Nexus of Climate, Air Quality and Health: Smoke and Other Emissions Challenges

The Emissions Inventory and Analysis Group of the US EPA's Office of Air Quality Planning and Standards is pleased to announce the 2023 Emission Inventory Conference to be held September 26-29, 2023 in Seattle, WA.

The International Emissions Inventory Conference (IEIC) is a biennial conference that connects offices across EPA, researchers, the International community, regional organizations, and students who work on various aspects of emissions inventory development.

Emissions from biomass burning sectors present persistent air quality challenges now and in the future that continually require improved emissions characterization to address the various fire types and appliances involved. As such, in our plenary session and select technical breakout sessions, we will focus on wildland fires and residential wood combustion. Wildland fires and residential wood smoke contribute significantly to PM, VOCs, HAPs and GHGs.
